Martin Brundle responds to bizarre Jimmy Fallon F1 Miami GP grid walk encounter

Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle has responded to a bizarre incident at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix grid walk involving American talk show host Jimmy Fallon.

Brundle is famed for his pre-race grid walks, interviewing personalities and celebrities in an off-the-cuff style, cramming content into a matter of seconds.

Miami has joined the club of races where the rich and famous like to descend, giving him ample targets on Sunday for a lightning quick conversation, though this exchange would have a twist.

One such target was American TV talk show host Jimmy Fallon, with the Briton quick to introduce himself, Fallon visibly excited at meeting Brundle, proceeded to bite off the microphone sock.

Regaining control of the situation, Brundle quickly took the microphone back, saying: “You can keep that if you like”.

Opting to wrap up the bizarre encounter: Bribdle made to leave, Fallon then remarking: “I was hoping to see you. This is the highlight [of the weekend] right here”.

“He’s well-versed, isn’t he?” Brundle said with a smile, walking away, Fallon continuing to talk at him.

He respnded with an awkward quip of: “Do not take my mic sock again. Bye.”

After the race, Brundle issued a statement on social media, giving a somewhat blunt assessment of Fallon’s actions.

Brundle later took to social media, writing: “In 30 years of broadcasting I’ve never wondered what a branded microphone sock tastes like. There’s some very funny people around.”

No stranger to awkward encounters on the grid, he was once physically blocked by Megan Thee Stallion’s bodyguards from approaching her in 2021, leading to restrictions on entourages accompanying celebrities on the grid.
