Timo Glock after 24H Nurburgring race ban: I only have myself to blame

While Max Verstappen mesmerised the crowds during the 2026 ADAC Ravenol 24h Nürburgring , former Formula 1 driver Timo Glock received a ban from officials for his shenanigans at the Nordschleife, and thus forced to miss the race.

Glock was stripped of his Nordschleife permit during the after exceeding the speed limit in a Code 60 zone for the second time in recent weeks.

The 44-year-old German racing veteran, driving the #69 Dörr McLaren, was clocked travelling at 112 km/h in a section limited to 60 km/h during the 24 hour race, earning another 2 penalty points on his DMSB licence.

Glock had already received 2 penalty points during April’s 24h Qualifiers after being clocked 47 km/h over the limit in another Code 60 zone during the Sunday four hour race.

Under current regulations, drivers who accumulate more than 3 penalty points lose their Nordschleife permit immediately, resulting in Glock’s disqualification from the event.

The penalty left teammates Timo Scheider, Ben Dörr and Marvin Kirchhöfer to continue the race without the former Jordan, Toyota and Virgin Formula 1 driver.

The suspension also rules Glock out of the next Nordschleife event, although the 44-year-old can apply to regain his permit by completing the required e learning course again.

After a vist to the Stewards, Glock accepted responsibility for the incident: “I only have myself to blame. Six weeks ago I picked up two penalty points. Then came my double stint and I accelerated again 100 meters too early. That hurts, but it has to be punished. It's the most dangerous racetrack in the world.”

Glock competed in Formula 1 between 2004 and 2012 with Jordan, Toyota, Virgin and Marussia, making 91 starts and scoring 51 points with three podiums. He won the 2007 GP2 title before starring for Toyota. Glock is best remembered for the dramatic 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix title finale involving Lewis Hamilton.
